SA films to showcase at Cannes

Mzansi's film industry is coming into its own - with  a handful of locally produced movies expected to showcase at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

iNumber Number - Miners Shot Down - One Humanity and Nelson Mandela: The myth and me are all set to Screen from today - with hopes of exposing SA talent to the world.

Earlier this year - the local production Mandela - Long Walk to Freedom received three nod from the Golden Globes

Cannes International Film Festival will include four South African films at the festival market to coincide with the 20 Years of Freedom Celebrations.


The National Film and Video Foundation will present iNumber Number, Miners Shot Down, One Humanity and Nelson Mandela: The Myth and Me have been scheduled to have market screenings from Friday.

Another key objective of screening South African films is to expose South African talent and films to international sales agents, distributors, funders and other global players who are attending the festival.

Apart from the four NFVF selected films, the foundation will also host a South Africa Showcase where all the films that are looking for international support will be presented. Below is the screening schedule:
