Johannesburg - Correctional services on Thursday refuted claims by the wife and lawyer of convicted killer Clive Derby-Lewis that an application had been made for medical parole.

The department received an incomplete application for medical parole for Derby-Lewis and was waiting for a complete form, spokesperson Manelisi Wolela said in a statement.

Murder accused blade runner Oscar Pistorius is set to begin his mental evaluation at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria this morning.

Judge Thokozile Masipa ruled Pistorius to undergo 30 days observation as an out patient after forensic pyschiatrist Merryl Vorster told the court the athlete suffers from General Anxiety Disorder.

Pistorius would undergo daily observation by 4 medical personnel appointed by the state and defence, before he returns to court on June 30.

Judge justice Thokozile Masipa has ruled in favour of the state to have murder accused Oscar Pistoriuos' mental health evaluated for 30 days.

This comes after state prosecutor Gerrie Nel argued that Pistorius be sent for mental observation as his anxiety is listed under Psychiatric disorders.

On Monday Forensic psychiatrist Meryl Vorster told the court that Pistorius is suffering from a general anxiety disorder.
